it's been a while since i traveled anywhere, i've been falling into a rthym of life in budapest. we had a long holiday weekend and lucky me, my best friends decided to make the trek from the us all the way to budapest just for little old me! it was the 10 year anniversary of us being friends so we felt it was appropriate to celebrate, we're kind of a big deal.

the girls landed tuesday night, we had a quick dinner and a long catch up. i still had to work the rest of the week while they recovered from jet lag and explored budapest. let's jump to the weekend and our train trip to sopron.
we had to book it to the train saturday morning and nearly missed it. between a slow uber driver to the train station and incorrect track information on the departures board, we were exhausted by the time we settled into our seats and snoozed most of the way, but i managed to get a few shots in of the vast green landscape of hungary.
when we arrived in sopron, our airbnb host picked us up at the train station, which was lovely of her. that night we had reservations at the monastery for dinner.

i just realized when going thru the photos that i hadn't taken any pictures of the exterior. likely b/c it appeared the entrance was locked and i was on my phone trying to figure out how to actually get in the place. that would be a constant theme for the weekend.
we were sharing the space with a fancy baby shower but managed to get a few shots in.

the following day we made our way to the city center to explore the town a bit before we hopped our train to vienna. sopron is a classic storybook european town, like stepping into beauty and the beast.
